THE WOMAN BEHIND LET LOVE LEAD
Stories of belonging.
Style with purpose.
Folajogun Akinlami brings her creative work and commitment to inclusion into Let Love Lead.
A Nigerian broadcaster and author based in Nottingham, Folajogun is a polio survivor whose work explores representation, self-worth and participation. She founded the Differently Abled Foundation in Nigeria in 2018, creating a community focus for her disability advocacy.
Writing as Vickie Banks, she is the author of Stolen Paradise and Phoenix: A Journey of Rebirth and Resilience. Her subsequent manuscript, The Child I Chose, carries her autobiographical writing into motherhood. Across these works, she explores the many experiences that shape a woman's life.
Her broadcasting includes Beyond Challenges, Beyond and Above Challenges and Hanging with Diasporans. She co-produced Ariwo Oja Parts 1 and 2 and contributed the soundtrack, with later executive-producer credits on Pendulum and Ile Binukonu.
A 2019 Mandela Washington Fellow, Folajogun holds a master's degree in Youth Work and Leadership Practice from Nottingham Trent University. Her research examined the self-perception of women living with physical disabilities in Nigeria.
Let Love Lead brings that interest in identity and visibility into clothing. Its T-shirts and activewear invite people to express themselves, with inclusive representation at the heart of the brand.
